Sweater repair video and Jogakbo patchwork class

Fixing holes in sweaters

I have a few rituals when spring is near, besides cleaning and storing my winter sweaters, I do repairs when needed, so I feel like I have a fresh wardrobe when winter arrives again. I did this recently - hopefully not too soon - since spring in Colorado sometimes means more snow, instead of rain - even during April. I’ve learned to avoid the mountains during this time as it feels like a regression with still wintery weather, and also since I don’t ski.

Perhaps this little trick, technique, hack or whatever you want to call it will help you repair those holes in your sweaters. It works well with medium weight cashmere sweaters, but could work with other types of yarns that are flat jersey knit, rather than ones that are knit with a texture or super chunky. YouTube has many videos about how to fix the holes in your sweaters. The ones that are particularly amazing are the invisible hole repairs, where one literally re-knits the sweater where the hole is, using matching yarn.

My way is an almost invisible method - a combination of darning and stealing the matching yarn from the seam of the sweater. It’s for those of us less skilled in knitting (like myself). I have some plans for more mending videos, an am learning to do some visible mending. Let’s take care of what we already have.

'Jogakbo' (조각보) is a Korean patchwork technique that weaves together tradition, creativity, and utility.  It transforms scraps into vibrant patchwork multi-functional cloths - Pojagi (포자기) .  In this class you will learn the foundational techniques to create your own patchwork creation with both machine and by hand.  This technique is a great way to create something stunning with left over fabric from other projects and practice wasting less.  Previous sewing experience not required!  Feel free to bring your own scraps - thin fabrics work best.
